Qatar stop over, Q&A with Consultant Vicki Trpcevska
We spoke with Consultant Vicki Trpcevska in our Sydney office, about her recent trip to Doha, thanks to Qatar Airways and Hyatt Hotels – and her suggestions for a stop over. Vicki is bottom row, far left on a Desert Safari.
How did you find yourself in Qatar?
I was delighted to be involved in the Qatar Airways and Hyatt Hotels educational trip to ensure I was up-to-date with the airline and hotel product offerings.
How was the flight over?
Economy class on the Airbus A350 was perfect. I was able to experience the new slimline seat which was very comfortable. The highlight was the huge selection of entertainment and current movies.
Where did you stay?
For a 5 star leisure experience – The Grand Hyatt in The Pearl (the artificial island in Qatar spanning nearly four square kilometres). For those wanting to relax by the pool and man-made beach, this accommodation is the perfect Doha getaway for couples, families or solo travellers.
For the business traveller experience – The Grand Hyatt Doha is a recently opened 5 star hotel in an amazing location. It is a 5 minute walk to the Souq Waqif “the standing market” – a market place known for selling traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, souvenirs – and home to dozens of restaurants.
What adventures can you suggest during a quick stop over?
Qatar Airlines have a terrific stopover program offering accommodation and tours. Accommodation in 4 or 5 star hotels in good locations are very reasonable priced. My favourite tour was the Desert Safari – bashing the sand dunes in a 4-wheel drive. I can recommend this tour for travellers with a long transit or on a stop over for a few days.
How was the return flight?
Business Class on the Airbus A380 was everthing that a business or leisure traveller could expect, with a comfortable and spacious seat, attentive service and quality food.
